HASP Hardware License Setup
Overview:
Your Worx Plugins network license is on a HASP USB key. You need to set up the computer the key plugs into, or point a CAD workstation at it.
Before You Start:
Older Worx Plugins network licenses came on a HASP USB key. The key is made by Thales and uses their Sentinel licensing software. Current licenses use the ECE License Manager instead, which needs no key.
For the key to work:
- It must be plugged into a server or workstation on your network. This article calls that computer the HASP host.
- You need to know the HASP host's IP address.
- The HASP host must be running the HASP run-time drivers and the latest Sentinel License Manager.
The ECE key has its own vendor ID (88104), so it can share a computer with HASP keys from other companies.
Steps:
Set up the HASP host
- Plug the ECE HASP key into the HASP host.
- Windows should install the HASP run-time drivers by itself. This can take a few minutes. The red light on the key turns on when it is ready.
- If the light does not turn on after a few minutes:
- Try a different USB port.
- Install the run-time drivers by hand. Download the latest Sentinel HASP/LDK – Windows GUI Runtime Installer from Thales. This avoids rebooting the server.
- To check, open a web browser on the HASP host and go to http://localhost:1947. This is the Sentinel Admin Control Center. If the page loads, the HASP software is installed.
Set up each CAD workstation
- Install the Worx Plugins if they are not installed yet.
- Open a web browser and go to http://localhost:1947. If the page does not load, install the run-time drivers as in step 3 above, then try again.
- Click Sentinel Keys. If you see a key with Vendor 88104, the workstation can already reach the ECE key and you are done.
- If the key is not listed:
- Click Configuration.
- Click the Access to Remote License Managers tab.
- Tick every option, and enter the HASP host's IP address under Remote License Search Parameters.
- Click Submit and wait a minute.

- Go back to Sentinel Keys and refresh the page every so often. When key 88104 appears, the workstation can use licenses from it.

If the key still does not appear, see Worx Plugin Will Not Find HASP Network License or contact ECE Design support.
Update the key
New license dates and counts are applied with the ECE HASP Update Utility. You send us a C2V file from the key, and we send back a V2C file to apply. See Updating a WORX Plugins HASP Key. If the key is on a remote server, see Create a C2V file from a Remote Server.

Notes:
- To see who is using a license, or to free one, see ECE HASP - View Currently Used Licenses.
- To move from a HASP key to a software license, contact ECE Design support.
