How To Install?

The Worx Plugins are delivered electronically and can be downloaded here: Download Page.

Once downloaded, please follow the below instructions:

Caution: Close all AutoCAD applications before installing the Worx Plugins

Step 1: Navigate to the download folder and find the Worx_Plugins_Setup.exe file

Step 2: Right-click and select Properties. If the option to Unblock is available at the bottom of the window, select to unblock, then Press “OK”.

Step 3: Right-click again and select Run as Administrator.  This will launch the installation application.

Step 4: Multiple windows will appear, prompting for actions during the installation.  Satisfy each one to continue through the process

Step 5: Worx Plugin installs a few runtime drivers for licensing.  Click OK to satisfy and close these installation notification windows.  ECE uses two license technologies to satisfy custom requirements.  HASP and ECE's own Software Licensing.

Software Licensing; Stand-Alone & Network

The ECE License Manager is used to Acquire and Activate your license.  Open a web browser and navigate to http://localhost:1968. A shortcut can be found in the Windows Start Menu under ECE Design:

Software License Activation

This is an easy process.  Every software license is issued by the ECE Orders Team.

After purchasing annual subscriptions, licenses are associated with a Registration Email address and a Serial Number.

Therefore, you MUST have the following before proceeding:

  • The Registration Email address and
  • Worx Plugin serial number(s) before proceeding.

Stand Alone

After opening the webpage (http://localhost:1968), click on the "Click Here To Activate License" button.

Enter the email address and serial number from the Licensing email in the dialog that looks like the image below.

This will initiate communication to the ECE Licensing website to automatically acquire and activate the license.  If successfully activated, the page will be updated, and the Expiration Date and status will be filled in properly. Once Expiration Dates are displayed, the Worx Plugins are activated and can be launched within CAD on the workstation.

Network

The ECE License Manage is delivered electronically and can be downloaded here: Download Page.  The ECE License Manager is installed with the Worx Plugins on the individual workstations but for the Network License Server, ECE provides a separate install just for the ECE License Manager, so only the necessary software is installed on the Server.

Once downloaded on your Network License Server, please follow the below instructions:

Step 1: Navigate to the download folder and find the ECE Licensing Service Installer.exe  file

Step 2: Right-click and select Properties. If the option to Unblock is available at the bottom of the window, select to unblock, then Press “OK”.

Step 3: Right-click again and select Run as Administrator.  This will launch the installation application.

Step 4: Once installed, open a Web Browser on the Network License Server and Navigate to http://localhost:1968.

Step 5: After opening the webpage (http://localhost:1968), click on the "Click Here To Activate License" button.

Step 6: Enter the email address and serial number from the Licensing email in the dialog that looks like the image below.

This will initiate communication to the ECE Licensing website to automatically acquire and activate the license.  If successfully activated, the page will be updated, and the Expiration Date and status will be filled in properly. Once Expiration Dates are displayed, the server is now licensed and ready.

Step 7: Go to each user machine and perform the following:

  • Navigate to http://localhost:1968/LicenseServers
  • Press the + button to add a Network License Server. Note: The default port for the ECE License Services is 1968.  If this port needs to be changed, then please contact support.

Step 8: The Network License Server will display Application License Counts as well as usage on the webpage once the Network License Server is added.

NOTE: If users need to move back to HASP or Local Software Licenses, the Network License Server must be Removed using the "-" Button.

Licenses Deactivation

This process is necessary to move licenses between workstations or return licenses to the Registration Email account for future deployment.

Step 1: Open a Web Browser on the Network License Server and Navigate to http://localhost:1968.

Step 2: Click on the Local Licenses Tab.

Step 3: Click the Deactivate button.  Each Worx Plugin requires its own deactivation. Once initiated, the system will perform the following.

  • Notify you on the workstation display,
  • Send the Registration Email a deactivation notice for each Worx Plugin returned.
  • NOTE: Retain these emails because the information within is required to reactivate licenses.

Refreshing Licenses (Expiration Dates and License Counts)

The ECE License Manager can refresh expiration dates and Network License Counts at the press of a button.   Since all Worx Plugins are annual subscriptions, users can simply update the licenses as follows:

Step 1: Open a Web Browser on the Network License Server and Navigate to http://localhost:1968.

Step 2: Click on the Local Licenses Tab.

Step 3: Click the Activate button.  The Registration Email and Serial Number should populate automatically.  Press the green check submit button, and the license will be automatically updated.

NOTE: Immediately after the ECE Order Team extends an expiration date, users can 1) click the Refresh Expiration Date button to update them.

HASP Hardware Licensing, Network Only

Legacy purchases of the Worx Plugin Network Licenses were delivered with a HASP USB Hardware Key.

This HASP key is a third-party device from Thales and their Sentinel licensing technology portfolio.

There are a couple setup and configuration requirements that must be satisfied:

  • The HASP Key must be plugged into a LAN/WAN server or workstation or the HASP Host.
  • Note the ECE HASP Key is unique and can coexist with HASP Keys from other suppliers as each HASP Key has a unique Vendor ID.
  • The HASP Host IP address must be known
  • The HASP Host must be running HASP Run-time Drivers
  • The HASP Host must be running the latest HASP License Manager

The HASP Host Server must be set up first with the following steps:

HASP Host Server Setup

Step 1:   Plug the ECE HASP Key into the HASP Host.

If the HASP Run-time Drivers are not already installed, Windows should install them automatically.  There is a red LED on the HASP Key, and it will illuminate when the detection process is complete.  This does require some time, so please allow Windows a few minutes to download and install or update the HASP Run-time drivers automatically.

If the LED fails and does not illuminate after a few minutes, then the following troubleshooting should ensue:

  • There is an issue with the USB port.  Please try to fix or use a second port.
  • HASP Run-time driver fail to load.  To avoid unnecessary rebooting of the server, manually install the runtime drivers.  It can be obtained directly from Thales

Click here to browse for and download the latest “Sentinel HASP/LDK – Windows GUI Runtime Installer” from the Thales website.

Once the latest Run-time driver is installed, the LED should illuminate.

Sentinel Admin Control Center (SACC)

This Sentinel Admin Control Center can be used to verify and configure setting on the HASP Host and Clients.  Access it by opening a Web Browser and navigating to the following address: http://localhost:1947.  If the SACC webpage loads then the machine has the HASP software loaded on it.  If not, then HASP Run-time drivers must be manually loaded on the machine.

Step 2: Perform CAD workstation (client) Setup as follows:

  • Install the Worx Plugins, if not already installed.
  • Open the SACC by browsing to: http://localhost:1947
  • If the SACC webpage does not load, then manually install the latest HASP Run-time drivers as described above in the HASP Host Setup Section and then try to open the SACC again.
  • Once the SACC webpage loads perform the following:
    • Click on “Sentinel Keys” tab.
    • Check for the a Key with Vendor equal to 88104.  If the ECE HASP key is visible the client can access it and start consuming licenses from it.
    • If the HASP key is not visible then perform the following:
      • Click on Configuration
      • Switch to Access Remote License Manager Tab
      • Activate all options inclusive of populating the HASP Host IP address under Remote License Search Parameters
      • Click Submit and wait a minute.
    • Navigate back to the “Sentinel Keys” page and wait for the HASP Host to be located and the HASP key to be found.  Refresh the browser window periodically to update the page.  When the 88104 ECE HASP key is displayed in the list, the client can access it and start consuming licenses from it.

NOTE: If the key does not appear in the list, please contact ECE Support.

How to update a HASP Key

Customer to Vendor (C2V) and Vendor to Customer (V2C) files are used to update features or adjust the licenses and Expiration Dates on HASP Keys.

There is a HASP SRM RUS application that is launched to do this.  Prior to launching this application, be sure to plug the ECE HASP Key into the USB port.

Using Windows, browse for the ECE HASP Update Utility and launch it.

Follow the instructions within the ‘Collect Status Information’ to generate a C2V file, and follow the ‘Apply License File’ instructions to apply V2C file updates .

Once the updates are applied they will be available immediately.

How to get started in AutoCAD?

After launching AutoCAD a new ‘ECE Worx Plugin’ Tab should appear in the Ribbon

If you do not see the ECE Worx Plugin tab, a manual load will be required.  At the command prompt type NETLOAD and load RIBBONWorx.dll which is found in the installation folder: \ECE Design\Worx Plugins\AutoCAD\RIBBONWorx.dll

If this manual load doesn’t work, then your computer is really ‘locked down’. In this situation you’ll need to click here and try this ECE Help Desk solution.

Here is a brief overview of each Ribbon section:

  1. The Worx Programs: select the Plugin to launch.  Each Plugin has its own palette.
  2. Worx Documentation: select a Plugin to launch a web page containing the user manual
    • What’s New: opens specific product What’s New page on ECE Help-Desk
    • Videos: opens video section on ECE Help-Desk
    • Manuals: opens PDF manual on specific product
  3. Quick Start Guide
    • Support Request: opens a new window to submit a new support ticket to the ECE Help Desk
    • Release Notes: opens a window to a consolidated list of updates/changes
    • Latest Downloads: opens a window to the downloads solution page on the ECE Help Desk
    • Evaluation Request: opens a browser page where you can request evaluation licenses
    • Hardware Manager: opens a browser page to hardware key admin council
    • Software License Manager: opens the ECE License Manager
    • Log Viewer: opens the Worx Log Viewer
