This article will cover the approval process for a Work Order through SOCKETWorx.

Step 1: Accessing the Work Orders Page
- Click the "Work Orders" button on the left-hand navigation menu from your SOCKETWorx homepage.
Step 2: Grid Filters and Finding Your Work Orders
At the top of the Work Orders page, the filters can be used to narrow the number of visible work orders in the grid based on the stage-gate, user assigned to, and approver status.
To filter the list of Work Orders to display only those you are assigned to approve:
- Click the down arrow next to the filter icon.
- In the dropdown list, click the "To Be Approved" checkbox.
To filter this list to include only Work Orders that are for Approval:
- Click the "IFA" box in the row of Work Order Stage Gate Filters.
The list now includes all Work Orders for the active user to approve. Only Work Orders in the IFA stage gate can be approved.
Add section for column filtering for specific work order. Additionally, let's point out that the Search bar can be used to find work orders based on primary documents assigned to the work order.
To remove the filters and reset the grid to the original view:
- Click the down arrow next to the filter icon.
- In the dropdown list, click the "To Be Approved' checkbox again to uncheck
- Click the "All" box in the row of Work Order Sage Filters
Step 3: Accessing Reference Files
Relevant documents such as Markups, Redlines, Construction/Demo notes, etc. will be included in the Reference Files tab in the dropdown menu of the Work Order.
To download any of these files:
- Click the blue and white plus next to the desired Work Order.
- Open the Reference Files tab of the dropdown menu.
- Click the "Download File" button next to the File Name in the list.
Or - Click the check boxes next to the files to download.
- Click the "Download Selected..." button at the top of the Reference Files Tab.
- Access the downloaded files via the email sent from socketworx@ecedesign.com, to the email address associated with your SOCKETWorx account.
Step 4: Opening Documents to Review
Primary Revision Controlled Documents that were changed by a Work Order will be system associated to the Work Order by either the initiator or drafter. These documents will be reviewed and approved through the PDF Viewer and Work Order module within SOCKETWorx.
To view the documents associated with a Work Order:
- Click the blue and white plus next to the desired Work Order.
- Open the Documents tab of the dropdown menu.
The shown list of documents need to be reviewed and can be accessed and reviewed directly through SOCKETWorx's local PDF Viewer.
To open a document:
- Click the Green PDF button next to the File Name. A red hilighted

Step 5: Sending Back or Approving the Work Order
Based on the approver's findings, if more corrections need to be made, the Work Order can be moved back to WIP.
To move a Work Order back to WIP
- Click the blue arrow "Advance Work Order Status..." button.
- In the pop-up window, click "WIP"
If the documents have been updated accordingly, the status can be moved forward to Approved.
To move a Work Order forward to Approved
- Click the blue arrow "Advance Work Order Status..." button.
- In the pop-up window, click "APPROVED"
Step 6: Adding Work Order Comments
Public comments can be added to a work order from the Information Panel. You can use these to communicate with the "Assigned To" person on any questions had or corrections that need to be made.
To access the comments section and add a comment to a work order:
- Click the Blue "i" button to open the Information Panel.
- Click the Correspondence button to open the Work Order Correspondence tab.
- Click the Add Correspondence button to add public comments and information for the "Assigned To" person.
Once these steps are completed, the Work Order has been Approved or sent back to WIP, the "Assigned To" person will be sent a notification letting them know that either there's more work to be done, or that it's time to update and issue the next revision.
