For correct pipe length when dealing with socket welded fittings In the current versions of CADWorx Plant many have noticed that when placing weld gaps on socket weld systems that the weld gap is placed as a zero length, even when the same weld gap is placed on buttweld lines has the correct length/thickness.Part of the problem is that on socket weld components, the weld is not at the end of the pipe, but rather at the outside of the fittings hub. This can be clearly seen when converted to 3D Enhanced.To get the correct pipe length for those socket weld systems, the End Type table must be adjusted. The out of the box tables are too generic to be used without modification. This is due to some companies using slightly different offset distances between the end of pipe and the bottom of the socket. So the out of the box end type has the pipe all the way through the hub of the fitting.In the default tables the Over All length (OAL) of the hub and the Pipe Engagement length (PEL) are the same.If you adjust the PEL by subtracting the offset distance between the end of pipe and bottom of socket (e.g. 0.0625) then the pipe lengths will be correct.Notice the gap between the end of the pipe and the bottom of the hub. It is shown here in 3D enhanced, but the result is the same in Solid mode as well.
